Have you traveled abroad before? If so, where and why?
After graduating high school, I took a two week tour of Europe. I visited many popular areas, including London, Paris, Nice, Monaco, Florence, and Rome — but my favorite abroad experiences were in the small towns such as Assisi and Avignon. I went on the trip to see the historically prominent cities of Europe, but I also loved the authentic culture in small towns.
Have you studied abroad before? If so, where, when, and for what?
Where are you studying abroad this time and why did you choose this location & program?
I will be studying abroad in Viterbo, Italy, during the 2019 fall semester; Viterbo is an ancient town located in between Florence and Rome. I chose this location because the popular areas of Italy (such as Florence or Rome) will be easily accessible, but day-to-day I will have the opportunity to live a more immersive experience in a smaller city. Additionally, my program offers sequential language courses; this means that while I am abroad, I will be able to take four courses of Italian language back-to-back.
What are you most looking forward to during your study abroad program? What are you most nervous about?
I am most looking forward to meeting new people. On my previous (and very short) visit to Italy, I realized how much I love the people of Italy! I admire their personability, great food, and appreciation for life. That being said, the only thing I am nervous about is actually getting to Italy. To arrive at my final destination I will be taking two planes and three trains, and international travel can sometimes be stressful.
What are some of your interests and hobbies?
I have always been really involved with art, and I am currently working a lot in graphic design. I love making art in my free time, and it is a really prominent aspect in both of my majors (Advertising and Visual Art Studies). I have taken many courses in art history, and while it is a requirement for my degree, I will admit that I am secretly a huge art history nerd.
What are the top 3 things on your bucket list?
The top three things on my bucket list are to get a tattoo in Europe, go sky diving, and go cliff bungee jumping.
