Program: UF in Paris – Culture & Language in Context
Have you traveled abroad before? If so, where and why?
I have traveled to France, Italy, Panama, Honduras, and Canada. All of these trips have been short family vacations, so I am ready to be in a different country for longer than 2 weeks!
Have you studied abroad before? If so, where, when, and for what?
No, this will be my first time.
Where are you studying abroad this time and why did you choose this location & program?
After taking two years of French classes here at UF I thought it was time to venture out into the real world and apply what I have learned, so this summer I will be in Paris, France doing the UF Culture and Language in Context program. This is a full immersion program complied of French classes, a host family, and authentic Parisian experiences.
What are you most looking forward to during your study abroad program? What are you most nervous about?
The thing I am looking forward to the most is my host family! I am so excited to be able to communicate and share time with true Parisians. I can’t wait to speak French with them and learn more about their lives and culture.
I am nervous about the obvious living abroad on my own for the first time but what I am most nervous about is how short my stay in Paris will be. I worry it will go by so quickly and I won’t have properly enjoyed the details of this once in a lifetime experience.
What are some of your interests and hobbies?
Some of my hobbies include painting, photography, and yoga. I am very interested in art history and enjoy learning about fashion. I also really enjoy having coffee dates with my close friends.
Anything else you would like us to know about you?
I am a first-generation Hispanic student who is hoping to attend grad school and eventually earn my Ph.D.
