  • What is your year and academic concentration?
I am a second year English and Spanish dual major.
  • Have you traveled abroad before? If so, where and for what purpose?
I have traveled to both Cartagena, Colombia and San Ramon, Costa Rica. I caught the “travel bug” when I left the country for the first time on a mission trip to Costa Rica. There I was able to put my Spanish skills to the test and absolutely fell in love with the language. The second time, I had the opportunity to partner with a local foundation to facilitate workshops to school children. Both of these trips allowed me to not only grow my knowledge of Spanish, but also my knowledge of the world.
  • Have you studied abroad before? If so, where and what did you study?
I have never studied abroad before, so this experience is exciting and new. Although I have been out of the country, I have never stayed longer than two weeks. I am very excited to experience the culture and lifestyle of Granada.
  • Where are you studying abroad and why did you choose to study there?
This summer, I will be studying abroad in Granada, Spain. From the research I have done, Granada appears to be very quaint which is a perfect atmosphere for completely immersing myself in a culture.
  • What are you most looking forward to during your study abroad program?
The reason I have chosen to study abroad is because I want to give myself the opportunity to truly know Spanish. After graduation, I plan on teaching English as second language in a Spanish speaking country. My time in Spain will not only develop my language skills, but will also give me experience living in another country for an extended period of time. I am looking forward to be challenged to only speak Spanish. I cannot wait to see what I will learn both inside and outside the classroom.
  • What are some of your interests and hobbies?
In my free time I enjoy exploring new places, going on adventures, and spending quality time with important people in my life.
