Things I have done to prepare for my trip to Scotland/England which I leave for in less than a week:
I… bought some rain boots?
So yes. Things are going well.
This first half of the summer has been devoted to spending time with family and preparing for my first apartment which I move into as soon as I get back to the States. Any sort of physical or mental preparation for going abroad has seemed distant and unnecessary. But now it’s here! And I don’t know whether to feel stressed or excited and the mixture of the two seems to have manifested itself as slightly queasy.
I’ve been abroad before (with family)—even to London. I fly alone all the time. This won’t be the longest I’ve been away from home by a longshot (sophomore year, why were you such a struggle?). I have to remind myself that nothing about this is particularly new. I can do this. I can do this.
Despite some anxieties, I’m incredibly excited to see what this summer will bring, to see how efficiently I can pack (can I make it through six weeks with four pairs of shoes?), to discover new things, to prove to myself that I can do this.
I guess that means I should start packing!
