- What is your year and academic concentration?
I am a junior, majoring in Marketing and English (film/literature) and minoring in Spanish.
- Have you traveled abroad before? If so, where and for what purpose?
I traveled abroad to Europe (France, Switzerland, Italy, and Spain) as part of a backpacking trip after graduating from high school and traveled throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland last summer while studying abroad.
- Have you studied abroad before? If so, where and what did you study?
I spent last summer in London, England, with the UF in London – Business program, where I took classes with the Foundation for International Education and interned with the Institute of Economic Affairs, a free-market think tank.
- Where are you studying abroad and why did you choose to study there?
I am currently studying abroad in Viña del Mar, Chile. I chose the program in Chile because it offers a truly immersive experience in a culture far removed from my own. As part of an exchange, I will be able to study the Spanish language, Chilean culture (through literature and film), and Latin American business at an acclaimed Chilean university. The opportunity for a home stay and internship/volunteer opportunities made this study abroad experience a perfect fit for my interests and goals.
- What are you most looking forward to during your study abroad program?
I’m most looking forward to the opportunity to meet new people and explore new places. Specifically, I will be volunteering at the 2015 Viña del Mar International Film Festival, and am excited to work with and get to know people involved in the film industry in Chile. I am also excited to go hiking throughout in many of Chile’s scenic national parks, including La Campana and Torres del Paine in Patagonia.
- What are some of your interests and hobbies?
I enjoy watching movies, reading books, writing, playing instruments, traveling, and every kind of outdoor activity.
