Sydney is Australia’s creative hub. Each year, a combination of lights, music and ideas gather in this city for an event called Vivid Sydney. Based on the idea that inspiration can turn into action, Vivid Sydney celebrates and encourages those in the creative industries.
Vivid Sydney has to be one of the most spectacular light displays I’ve ever seen. Landmarks such as the Opera House and Harbour Bridge are illuminated each night at 6 p.m. for about two weeks. The lights are coordinated and change with the beat of music. Vivid is also primarily a conference with speakers from the creative industries. Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, was announced as this year’s keynote speaker.
A group of us from the study abroad program took a dinner cruise one night during Vivid Sydney with a LivingSocial deal for just $40 (#studentbudgetproblems). I definitely got some great night photographs on the harbor!
Vivid 2013 boasts, “the jobs of the future will be built on imagination.” Vivid Sydney certainly got my imagination going!
Looking forward to hearing all of the details!
