Hello world! As I write this, I’m finishing up packing to leave for Beijing in the evening. I thought I’d take a little time away from my preparations to introduce myself. My name is Kathryn and I just finished my first year at UF Law. Unless the Hong Kong airport counts, this will be my first time in China. Before I came to UF, I taught English in Vietnam at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam in Hanoi. I’m a Florida native, a huge computer nerd, and I love to travel. My travel philosophy is to try everything twice, that extends to food–there are few foods I won’t try, and if you follow along with me this summer you definitely won’t be hearing stories of me eating American fast food.
Join me as I work towards achieving my goal of getting hopelessly lost in all of the world’s major cities. Up next on that list is Beijing, where I’ll be spending the next month studying US and Chinese law, immersing myself in Chinese culture, eating as much street food as I can, and probably getting lost at least once. Along the way, I hope to give you a glimpse into my day to day life as a study abroad student as part of the UF Law summer program at Renmin University of China School of Law in Beijing.
I look forward to sharing a piece of my world and my time in China with you this summer.
